In 2009, Bexhill Museum purchased an Elva mk3 from the USA and via Elva cars they asked Hastings Motor Sheet Metal Works to build a new complete sports racing body for the car using the original body as a pattern. The original body was built by Alan Jenner, Les Tye and Roy Watson at Caves Road in 1958 and Alan, although retired came back to do this special project especially as he had the knowledge of how the original car was built. The car now fully restored in July 2010 is a major exhibit in the newly extended museum. Alan still helps out on special projects from time to time and can be seen in the photos carrying out the reconstruction work.

Hastings Motor Sheet Metal Works made most of the aluminium prototype bodies for the Elva racing cars at caves road and from there they were transported to the Elva garage on the A21 where the Sainsbury's superstore now exists.

See our photo gallery of how the Elva mk3 body was constructed.
